Madalena L. Carvalho-Fischer and Matthias Fischer
Maria
Madalena Carvalho Fischer studied Law at the Lisbon University
and took a post-graduate degree in European Union and International
Law at the University of Bonn. After teaching at the Lisbon University
and the National School of Administration in Warsaw, she joined
the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. In 1998, she
worked as an exchange diplomat in the German Foreign Office and
was assigned to the Portuguese Embassy in Berlin in 1999. In 2001,
Madalena Fischer became Deputy Head of the Portuguese Embassy
in Islamabad. She is currently Deputy European Correspondent in
the Portuguese Foreign Office.
Matthias
Fischer studied Law and Languages at the University of Bonn. After
one year at the Bonn County and the LSE, he completed a post-graduate
degree in International Relations at the Esculea Diplomatica in
Madrid and joined the German Foreign Office in 1990. in 1991,
he was assigned to the German Embassy in Warsaw as press attaché
and, in 1994, to the Embassy in Lisbon as cultural attaché.
In 1998, he was posted back to the German Foreign Office. In 2001,
he became head of the Consular Department of the German Embassy
in Islamabad. Matthias Fischer is now Counsellor at the German
Embassy in Lisbon.
