Mubashir
Hasan
Mubashir Hasan, holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering. He taught
for fourteen years at University of Engineering and Technology
at Lahore and later became Professor and Head of the Civil Engineering
department. Subsequently, he started his own consultancy practice,
during which he also drifted into politics, and became one of
the founding members of the Pakistan People’s Party. He
was elected to the National Assembly in 1970, and served as Minister
of Finance in Zulfikar Ali Butto’s cabinet. He was also
later incarcerated by General Ziaul Haq’s Martial Law regime.
He
started photographing birds as a hobby. This book is the result
of his avid interest in birds and his many expeditions into the
valleys of the Indus and the Himalayas.
At
present he is engaged in prompting peace and harmony between India
and Pakistan in his capacity as founder member of the Pakistan-India
Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy, and as a council
member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
