Philip
E. Jones
Philip Edward Jones was born in Jhansi and raised in India and
Pakistan. He attended Woodstock School in Mussoorie, India and
during the winters lived in Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar
Khan. Later, he studied at Juniata College in the USA, where he
graduated with honors. His MA, MALD, and PhD (1979) were earned
at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
He
studied Urdu under Professor Hameed-ud-din at Harvard University
and later at the Berkeley Urdu Program in Lahore. He also served
as a Lecturer at Forman Christian College (1972-1974). The field
work for his doctoral thesis was supported by a Shell International
Research Fellowship.
Dr.
Philip Jones has maintained his links with Pakistan over the years,
serving as a consultant to the World Bank and US corporations
on various development projects. He was the lead social scientist
in planning the Ghazi-Barotha Hydropower Project, worked on the
Fauji-Kabirwala Power Plant, and currently is assisting with the
Raise Mangla Dam Project.
Dr.
Jones is an Associate Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences
at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona.
He lectures and writes on South Asia issues at various think tanks
around the USA.
