Burhanuddin Hasan
Burhanuddin Hasan was born in Rampur. A former Princely State in northern U.P. (India) in a religious family of scholars descending from Imam Mujaddid Alf Sani of Sarhnd.
After migrating to Pakistan in 1951, he graduated from Government College, Lahore, in 1954.
He joined Radio Pakistan as News Editor in 1956. In 1961 he was posted to the Voice of America (VOA) in Washington (DC) as Broadcaster and Adviser in the Urdu Services, where he worked for five years. During his stay in the United State he studied TV Production and direction at the University of Maryland.
On his return from the US he joined Pakistan Television Corporation in 1968 as News Editor at Karachi TV Center he became General Manager of PTV’s news agency ATS in 1972 and took over as General Manager of the Karachi TV Center in 1974. He also served as General Manager, Rawalpindi Islamabad TV Center, Controller News. Director News and Current Affairs, Director International Relations and Director Administration of Pakistan Television Corporation.
Presently, he writes in newspapers on political and socioeconomic subjects as a free lance journalist and lectures on media related matters in various forums.
